Tanya Barham

CEO & Founder

Tanya has 20 years of experience as an innovator, entrepreneur, technologist, and utility nerd building enduring practices and products, including a successful business exit. From 2016-2019 Tanya helped reformulate and re-start PECI, securing millions in non-dilutive funding for execution of all aspects of technical service, product development, operations and commercialization of PECI’s grid edge products. In 2019 PECI spun off its technical and grid-edge products as Community Energy Labs with Tanya at the helm. Tanya’s speciality is in leading systems and people to set the stage for the high achievement culture necessary to iterate and scale. Tanya is fluent in Swedish and functionally proficient in Danish, Norwegian and Icelandic.


Jennifer Worrall


Jennifer Worrall has 20 years of deep subject matter expertise in computer science, enterprise energy information technology and solutions architecture. Jennifer was the CEO and Founder of iteros and also served as Director of Information Engineering for microgrid controls start-up CleanSpark, where she oversaw design and implementation of their Enterprise Architecture and SCADA system as well as cybersecurity policies and procedures. At her prior position at Southern Company Transmission, she helped to architect their Energy Management System and related applications. Jennifer’s career spans both startup and international scale in technical management roles for Southern Company, Willdan, Accenture, and as a software engineer at large Internet-based companies like Jennifer is fluent in Java, C# and Go.


Michael Chang

Full Stack/ML Engineer

Michael is a versatile software engineer with 10 years of experience. Michael has a solid foundation in full stack engineering for big companies like Twitter, Apple and Google as well as several years as a first-in software engineer at real estate start-up, Ribbon. He is an expert in high volume data processing, building fault tolerant systems from zero to one. He is passionate about applying his skills towards solutions that fight the climate crisis and promoting equity. He loves to learn, teach, grow, and do whatever it takes to help the team succeed. Michael is fluent in Mandarin and Python and is currently learning Thai.


Micha Ramsey, PhD

Mechanical Engineer

Micha’s career spans a diverse range including: custom hardware development for advanced sensors, research and development for NASA while completing a doctorate in mechanical engineering from MIT; engineering management for solar materials manufacturing in the photovoltaics industry; and enabling an equitable transition to a new energy economy with a community-based project development approach. With over 20 years of experience, she excels in: project portfolio management; leading cross-functional teams; strategic planning; tactical execution; research; and developing fact-based, data-driven solutions to product design and diverse business challenges. Micha is bilingual in German.


Carol Mwango

Office Manager

Carol has a decade of experience in: office management; project management; research; administrative processes and systems; data entry, transfer and transcription. Whether it has been helping grant and proposal teams execute the necessary steps to secure project funding at PECI, or, tracking and managing data and communication flows for virtual teams during the pandemic at CEL, Carol is a capable and thorough administrator with attention to detail, Carol is bilingual in Kiswahili.



Lindsay Baker

Building Science Advisor

Previously, Lindsay is the CEO of the International Living Future Institute.  Previously she was the Global Head of Sustainability & Wellbeing at The We Company, where she led a team pursuing the company’s ambitious goals to help the world’s environmental challenges. Previous to The We Company, she was the President of Comfy, a smart building software company that was acquired by Siemens in 2018. She also worked with the US Green Building Council, as a consultant for Google, and holds a Masters in Building Science from UC Berkeley. As a CEL advisor she offers guidance on: Building Automation; Model Based Building Control; Green Building Technology; Entrepreneurship.


Nimalan Mahendran

Enterprise ML Advisor

Nimalan is experienced in product management and technical leadership, particularly in machine learning (ML) and product engineering. Most recently, Nimalan held roles in these areas over an eight year tenure at Twitter. Much of this time was spent in Twitter’s ML division, Cortex, building Twitter’s ML platform and helping product teams across Twitter meet their goals through ML applications and applied ML research. Prior to Cortex, Nimalan built out the Contacts Graph team at Twitter. Prior to Twitter, Nimalan was a software developer at Summify (acquired by Twitter in 2012) and SAP Business Objects. He conducted ML research at UBC (MSc 2011). As a CEL advisor he offers guidance on building enterprise ML and engineering teams and products.


Joseph Todd

Technology Commercialization Advisor

Joe holds a formidable track record in leading technology research, development and commercialization efforts for companies such as Boeing and Alaska Airlines. Joe is currently the Deputy CTO for King County, the most populous county in the State of Washington, and previously served as Director and CIO for the City of Tukwila, WA where his team was selected as a finalist for IDC North America Smart Cities Award in digital equity and accessibility, 2018 and Winner, WCMA Innovations in local government Award, 2019. As a CEL advisor he offers guidance on combining deep tech with infrastructure and service at scale.


Karim Al-Khafaji, PhD

Sustainability Products Advisor

Karim has a history of working on innovative sustainability and engineering products related to ecology, energy and smart cities. He has a degree in civil engineering and a PhD from Stanford in Quantitative Ecology. He has expereince taking products to market on behalf of companies like Opower and Verizon. As a CEL advisor he offers guidance on: Smart Communities; Wireless Enabled Smart Development; Client Engagement and Success; Energy Technology Platforms.


Kay Aikin

Grid Edge Advisor

Kay is the CEO of Dynamic Grid, a grid controls, and complex systems design company. She has a 25-year career in business development, building partnerships for projects in the design and engineering fields as well as government contracting. Nate Kinsey

Building Decarbonization Advisor

Nate Kinsey is a policy and market development professional with a decade of experience advancing building electrification and demand flexibility throughout the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Nate’s background includes stints at the California Public Utilities Commission, the California Demand Management Council, and San Francisco Unified School District. While at SFUSD Nate supported the adoption of the nation’s first K-12 mandate to achieve carbon-neutral operations by 2040. Edgar Almeida has 35 years of global experience in fortune 100 Commercial/Industrial-Automation and IT companies such as: ABB, Verizon, Schneider Electric and Cisco. Saniya Syed

Lorenzo Kristov, PhD

Power System Policy Advisor

Lorenzo is an independent consultant working on policy, structural and market reforms to enable rapid growth of distributed energy resources to accelerate decarbonization, resilient communities and environmental justice. He was a principal in market and infrastructure policy at California ISO for 18 years where he led initiatives to design the ISO’s LMP markets and its transmission planning and resource interconnection procedures, and to integrate Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) into wholesale markets. Roger Gray

Roger has extensive executive experience in the electric, water, and telecommunications industry and is a highly regarded leader in Northwest public power. Currently, Gray is the Chief Executive Officer for PNGC Power (a generation and transmission co-op). Prior to that he was the CEO for the Northwest Requirements Utilities (NRU) and Eugene Water and Electric Board (EWEB). Roger holds degrees in computer science and electrical engineering – power systems.
