DOE Contracts Awarded to CEL for R&D

July 9, 2021

 The Upshot

CEL has won two U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Research & Development contracts.

2021 DOE Contracts

In 2021, the DOE awarded two contracts to CEL:

  • DOE Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA): CRADA agreements allow awardees to work with national laboratories to accelerate building technology projects. Through this contract, CEL will co-develop and integrate Lawrence Berkeley National Lab's (LBNL) Unit Coordinator Algorithm in our tech stack.
  • DOE Phase 1 SBIR: Through SBIR grants, awardees develop prototypes for technological solutions needed to achieve net-zero emissions. Out of over 250 awardees, the DOE press release called out only three—and CEL was one of them! With this award, we will improve the affordability of advanced controls. Thank you to the 12 (and growing) school districts along the west coast participating in this effort.

MORE FUN WITH DOE

  • CEL partnered with 20+ diverse energy entrepreneurs and innovators across the US. Together, we facilitated and led a response to the DOE's Equity in Innovation RFI. Read it here.
  • CEL participated in the Impel+ 2021 Cohort. The DOE Building Technology Office and LBNL support this program.
