CEL's presentation at BTO Peer Review highlighted our platform's affordability and simplicity.
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Building Technologies Office (BTO) accelerates the adoption of technologies that enable high-performing, resilient buildings. BTO hosts an annual Peer Review at which companies present new building technologies for expert feedback and opportunities for collaboration. In October, CEL was invited to present at the 2024 BTO Peer Review in Arlington, Virginia.
Tanya’s presentation was titled "Easy Does ItTM: Making MPC Setup and Tuning Affordable." CEL’s technology is one of only a few similar technologies moving through commercialization right now. With a goal of making complex, advanced technology affordable and easy to use, CEL represents an innovative solution. Past versions of advanced Model Predictive Control (MPC) solutions required a vast amount of money and time—usually from an engineer—to collect, calculate, and program data. This was out of reach for most organizations. Tanya’s BTO presentation highlighted the tenacious way we’ve gone about collecting that data and simplifying it while leveraging the power and promise of MPC. This has immense potential for positive impact on cost savings, grid reliability, and the energy industry as a whole.
Reviewers and attendees were excited to see a solution that addresses affordability and simplicity. Affordable advanced controls will become increasingly important as energy management becomes more and more complex. We are grateful for the opportunity to present to BTO; keep an eye out here for more presentations and events coming up!
