Southern California Edison is hosting an informative course for building owners needing to reduce energy consumption.
Are you a building owner wrestling with competing demands between reducing energy consumption and keeping occupants comfortable? Southern California Edison (SCE), in partnership with CEL, is hosting a virtual, two-part, Grid-Interactive Efficient Building Controls course that you can benefit from. This interactive virtual series will discuss grid-interactive efficient building controls as an emerging sector of the energy industry. As a result of this course, participants will understand how best to address building energy management, compliance and decarbonization.
Part 1 will provide an overview of what is driving the changes in codes and prices and how automation and controls need to adapt. It will also cover what steers energy use throughout the day and how it relates to cost and carbon. Lastly, it will look at how different identities and users impact energy use, cost and carbon.
Part 2 will then cover the energy tradeoffs that we will have to make in the real world and how they impact cost, carbon, staff time and occupant comfort. Additionally, participants will learn how smart building controls interact with utility rates, rebate programming and other incentive programs. SCE will also review how current technologies help or hinder our ability to meet energy and occupant goals. Finally, you will learn how evolving grid-interactive building controls bridge the gap between utilities, codes, occupant comfort and convenience.
